What size breaker and wire would be required for my dedicated office line?

This is a small operational in our fire hall, this being a force with only fifteen members. We have built an office in which to perform all of our secretarial and treasurer related functions and we are going to run the wiring, install receptacles in office for machines only. We will be running a line directly from the breaker to these receptacles, a distance of 75′ one way. Nova Scotia, Canada

If you’re just going to have a few small office machines, such as a desktop, printer, and phone – a 15 amp circuit using 14/2 would be sufficient. You could play it safe and use 12/2 for a 20 amp circuit. In that case, you would need to use T-slot receptacles because they will be rated for 20 amps (normal receptacles are only rated for 15 amps).

If you’re going to install more than that, you should check the ratings of the equipment and size your circuits according to the total ratings of all the loads. In this case, you might also consider installing more than one circuit. Even a small Xerox WorkCenter normally requires a circuit of it’s own. Also, you might consider having some general use receptacles for other activities (for example janitorial).
Its better to make sure that you have enough receptacles there now – while you have the walls open – rather than finding out later that you needed more (better looking at it than looking for it).
